Time is one of the most precious elements in the world of wine. It is what allows a vintage to evolve, reveal new nuances and, over the years, express an increasingly complex personality.

It is from this belief that The Value of Time was born, Masottina’s project dedicated to the remarkable ageing potential of R.D.O. wines and their natural vocation for food pairing.

Born from the unique character of the Rive di Ogliano, the project has given life to a true library of older vintages of R.D.O. Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Rive di Ogliano, shared with a selection of outstanding restaurants: the R.D.O. Ambassadors.

After the Italian Ambassadors and the experience of Felice 83 in New York, the project now reaches a new international destination: London.

The Franklin: the new R.D.O. Ambassador in London

In the heart of Knightsbridge, The Franklin Restaurant officially joins the network of Masottina R.D.O. Ambassadors.

A prestigious address in London’s hospitality scene, The Franklin is a place where cuisine, hospitality and wine culture come together in a setting with a strong international outlook. Overlooking the peaceful surroundings of Egerton Gardens, the restaurant offers a contemporary Italian fine dining experience led by Head Chef Roberto Roncolato, within an intimate and refined setting. With just 30 covers, The Franklin combines the roots of Italian cuisine with Mediterranean and international influences, creating a dialogue between tradition, innovation and contemporary expression.

It is within this context that the new partnership with Masottina takes shape: a meeting between two realities united by a shared desire to celebrate time, quality and identity through a culture of excellence that brings cuisine and wine together.

R.D.O. Ambassador: a project that tells the story of the Value of Time

The R.D.O. Ambassador project was created to offer a different perspective on Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG: its ability to evolve over time.

The Ambassadors selected by Masottina share a wine list that places recent vintages alongside a selection of older vintages of R.D.O. Levante and R.D.O. Ponente, allowing guests to discover how time can transform and enhance the character of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG wines from the Rive di Ogliano.

In Italy, the project currently includes L’Alchimia in Milan, Enoteca La Moscheta in Padua and Ristorante Città di Venezia in Conegliano. In 2024, the project crossed European borders for the first time with Felice 83 in New York, the first international R.D.O. Ambassador.

With the addition of The Franklin, the project now reaches another important milestone: London becomes the second international city to preserve and share the Value of Time of our R.D.O. wines.

A dinner dedicated to time

The new partnership was celebrated on September 24 in London with a dinner for press and industry professionals, designed to explore, through wine, one of its most fascinating dimensions: time.

In the refined setting of The Franklin, guests were taken on a gastronomic journey through four different expressions of Masottina’s production, designed to tell the story of the winery’s identity through the present, the past and the future.

The experience began during the aperitivo with a special 3-litre bottle of ViaVenti Prosecco DOC Treviso Extra Brut, featuring the special 80th anniversary label of Masottina: a format created to celebrate an important milestone while, at the same time, looking towards the future with the same spirit of innovation that has accompanied the history of the Dal Bianco family.

At the table, the journey began with R.D.O. Ponente Brut 2025, the most recent expression of the Rive di Ogliano, paired with wild sea trout ceviche, mango, citrus and chilli dressing. The freshness and citrus notes of the dish complemented the youngest vintage, introducing the story of time through a lively and contemporary combination.

The first course, homemade ricotta gnocchi with black truffle and 12 months aged Roncolato Monte Veronese cheese foam, was paired with R.D.O. Levante Extra Dry 2018, a precious older vintage that revealed a different expression of the Rive di Ogliano in the glass and offered tangible evidence of the ageing potential of R.D.O. wines.

Next, R.D.O. Multivintage Brut from the Heritage Collection met roasted Stone Bass fillet, broccoli and Mediterranean sauce, in a pairing that brought the complexity of the cuvée into dialogue with the aromas and Mediterranean character of the dish. Created by blending different vintages, this cuvée interprets time through the layering of multiple harvests and represents one of the most significant expressions of Masottina’s 80th anniversary, celebrating the wealth of experience and knowledge built by the Dal Bianco family over generations.

It was a gastronomic journey that brought together the present, memory and vision, placing a current vintage, an older vintage and a multivintage cuvée in dialogue, beginning with the celebratory large-format bottle that opened the experience.

The evening set out to show how time can take different forms in wine: through the evolution of a vintage, the layering of multiple harvests, and the ability of a great celebratory bottle to turn a moment into a memory to be shared.

From the Rive di Ogliano to the world

The arrival in London marks a new step in Masottina’s international journey and in the Value of Time project.

From the hills of Ogliano to New York and now London, R.D.O. wines continue to meet new tables, new professionals and new enthusiasts, carrying with them a story rooted in the territory while finding new audiences around the world.

Because the value of time is not measured only in the years that pass, but in the stories those years make possible.

And the story of our R.D.O. wines is one that Masottina continues to tell, one bottle at a time.
