For the Dal Bianco family, this moment has always represented a deep connection with the land. For eighty years, every harvest has renewed a story built on passion, continuity and respect for the territory.

This year, Masottina celebrates its 80th anniversary: eighty harvests that tell the story of a dedication passed down from generation to generation, preserving the same desire to enhance the precious gifts offered by the vineyard.

 

 

The harvest in the hills of Ogliano: the value of skilled hands

Among the hills of Ogliano, the harvest still follows the rhythm of the people who live in and deeply know the vineyard.

The days begin early, when the sun has not yet reached its hottest hours and the cooler temperatures help preserve the fragrance and integrity of the grapes. At dawn, the team reaches the vineyards: it is the moment when the hills awaken and the work among the rows slowly begins to take shape.

Hand harvesting requires care and patience. Each bunch is carefully observed, selected and picked by hand, before being placed into the distinctive red crates that accompany the grapes on their journey to the cellar.

It is a task made of precise gestures and timeless rhythms: walking between the rows, filling the crates, the short breaks throughout the day, and the moments shared by the team.

A ritual that repeats every year, yet every vintage makes it different, because every year nature tells a new story.

 

 

From the hills to the plains: two harvest methods, the same commitment to quality

Masottina’s vineyards encompass territories with different characteristics, each one capable of expressing its own identity.

While the hillside vineyards of Ogliano require an exclusively manual and selective harvest, the vineyards located in the plains follow a different path, where mechanical harvesting also becomes a tool in the pursuit of quality.

Technology allows grapes to be harvested efficiently and at the ideal moment of ripeness, preserving their distinctive characteristics.

Two different approaches, therefore, united by the same philosophy: respecting the raw material and guiding it in the best possible way towards the cellar.

After harvesting, all grapes reach Ogliano, the production heart of Masottina, where the transformation from fruit into wine begins.

 

 

The winemaking process begins in Ogliano

The Ogliano winery was born from a precise vision of Adriano Dal Bianco: creating a place where wine itself could guide the architecture.

Located at the centre of Masottina’s vineyard park, the winery was designed to be as close as possible to the vineyards, allowing the grapes to be processed while minimising movement and preserving their integrity.

From the moment they arrive, the bunches are carefully guided towards the presses through systems designed to respect the delicacy of the grapes.
